LCDR Wiliam Kielhorn, USCGR in his book Basic Motorboat Seamanship recommends using a becket bend on a bight for attaching a tow line to an all rope towing bridle for light-duty towing. He mentions the advantages of implicity, easy of construction and ease of release. In addition, the tow boat end of the tow line never needs to be uncleated to adjust the towing distance.
